Accelerated Resolution Therapy

Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) is a type of therapy designed to help people process and overcome distressing memories or experiences more quickly than traditional methods. It uses a combination of techniques, like guided visualization and eye movements, to help the brain reframe and release the emotional charge tied to difficult memories. The goal is to help you feel less affected by past events, reduce symptoms like anxiety and trauma, and create a sense of emotional balance without needing to dwell extensively on the details of what happened. It's gentle and effective, and many people experience positive changes in just a few sessions.

While it sounds too good to be true, I have witnessed first-hand the transformative power of ART. This unique modality utilizes a "bottom up" approach. Typical therapeutic treatment focuses on a "top down" approach, which assumes that strengthening a person's cognitive resources will help more accurately determine threats, conflict, and stressors. Top down is useful for issues related to mindfulness, identifying distorted patterns, and adjusting underlying beliefs and narratives. However, ART uses a bottom up approach, which starts at the sensory and somatic (peripheral nervous system). Bottom up treatment regulates the bodily responses by processing sensations, emotional awareness, and the somatic "stuckness".
